Please handle with care and wash your hands thoroughly after handling the Bat-tery Pack.</p><p>CAUTION</p><p>Charge your M650's Battery Pack periodically. Permanent damage and reduced capacity will result if the Battery Pack is not correctly maintained. Refer to page 19 for details on how to maintain your Battery Pack.</p><p>M650s that have been stored will usually require a top-up charge before they are put into service. Each box contains:</p><p>KOne M650 lantern.KOne Bird Deterrent.KOne illustrated </p><p>Quick Start Guide.</p><p>NOTEThe M650 User Manual (this document) is shipped independently of the M650. It is also available for download on carmanah.com.</p><p>Installing the Bird Deterrent</p><p>Included with each M650 is one Bird Deterrent. If bird fouling of the M650 is a concern in your installation environment, install the Bird Deterrent as follows:</p><p>1. Insert the short L-shaped end through the small hole in the top of one of the M650 mounting feet.</p><p>2. Rotate the wire upwards 90 degrees until it is in the upright position.</p><p>3. Twist the Bird Deterrent clockwise until the L-shaped end snaps into the groove on the bottom of the mounting foot. Revised November 2009. 61249_M650_UserManual_RevB</p><p>M650 USER MANUALGETTING STARTED</p><p>9</p><p>When switched off, the M650 remembers its Flash Code, intensity, and other settings. </p><p>NOTEWith the switch in the Off position, the M650's LED will not turn on, and it will not respond to commands from the IR Remote. The M650 will, however, charge its Battery Pack when exposed to sunlight, regardless of the position of its switch.</p><p>on/off switch</p><p>The switch has two positions, On ( ) and Off ( ).</p><p>1. To put the switch in the On position, slide the switch to the right until it snaps into position. In the On position, a I symbol is visible on the switch.</p><p>2. To put the switch in the Off position, slide the switch to the left until it snaps into position. In the Off position, a O symbol is visible on the switch. </p><p>NOTERemoving the bottom cover is equivalent to placing the switch in the On position.</p><p>Bottom Cover Lock</p><p>You can lock or unlock the M650 Bottom Cover by tightening or loosening the locking screw from the tab on the Bottom Cover. Tightening the screw renders the Bottom Cover tamper-proof when it is installed ^X</p><p>NOTETo unlock the Bottom Cover, loosen the screw; it does not need to be fully removed.</p></li><li><p> 2009, Carmanah Technologies Corporation. Ensure that the installation location has year-round, unrestricted sun exposure throughout the day.</p><p>Choose a Sunny Location</p><p>During the winter, the sun is lower on the horizon. Because the angle of the sun changes with the seasons, you must be aware that obstructions such as trees, buildings, and mountains that do not shade the M650 during the summer may shade it during the winter.
